Overview
Hi there and welcome to my page. If you’re here then it’s likely something in life isn’t working as well as you’d like it to.
Whatever the main issue is, therapy is an investment in trying to sort out what underlies these difficulties, and choosing the right therapist is a big decision.
I’ve worked across a lot of different settings including child and adolescent and intellectual disabilities, but the majority of my work has been with adults and older adults. I’ve worked in lots of different settings including physical health, community and hospital settings, but primarily my focus is on working with adults who are experiencing emotional difficulties relating to grief, loss, shame, blame or self-criticism.
Whether you feel stuck in a past you wish you could change, scared of what the future might bring or anything in between I’d love to help. I specialise in working with older adults the LGBTQ+ community and I’m particularly passionate about and experienced in working with gender, sexuality and identity. I also have some experience of working with both addictions and sleep disorders.
I’m happy to work with individuals, couples and families
I use a range of therapeutic models in practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Systemic approaches. Together we would work towards understanding how one or more of these approaches might help you and how, and I try to always keep sessions relaxed, practical and skills-focused so that you can be sure the work you do is helpful and you can carry on using it for good after therapy ends. Therapy should be one of the best investments you ever make in yourself, so I’m happy to offer you a brief informal chat to understand your needs and what you’d like to achieve in therapy and to see if you think we’d be a good fit.
